Hoot

The other day a nice neighbor knocked on our door to tell us there was an owl hanging out a few houses down the street. R and the kids grabbed the camera and headed out for a gander (well, D was stuck in the house because he was choosing to not wear pants at that particular time). Apparently, the owl sat at the tippity-top of a neighborhood tree for a couple of hours. The night before I could hear some hooting and thought maybe it was an owl - what else it would have been, I don't know... someone's outdoor ambiance turned up too loud?

This little story kind of reminds me of something that happened last summer. When we first moved to Albuquerque, it was monsoon season. There would be afternoon rain storms and then right after the sun would come out and we'd have multiple, huge rainbows across the sky. One evening as we were looking at a couple of particularly beautiful rainbows, L exclaimed, "Rainbows are real! I thought they were only on t.v!"
